Pet Homes Defined
The simplest definition of a pet home is a home where the dog is spayed or neutered and NOT used for breeding. All dogs placed in pet homes will either be neutered/spayed before placement or will be within a reasonable amount of time after placement. Pet puppies will be placed on limited registration. (meaning that any offspring, either intentional or unintentional, could not be registered with AKC) We encourage our pet sheltie buyers to enroll in obedience and/or agility classes and to compete when ready in a variety of performance venues such as obedience, rally, agility, herding, flyball and tracking. Shelties are a breed that can truly "do it all." The only type of show that a spayed/neutered sheltie would not be eligible for would be conformation showing which is intended as a measure of "breeding stock." If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. |
